Alone Together Tour

Program is available for viewing here.

Kittiwake returns to stages across Newfoundland with our Alone Together tour, taking place June 9 to 17, 2021.

This hour-long show features two world premieres. First, is Martin Vallee’s choreography of the same name, which is inspired by poetry and reflections on the impact of isolation, felt during the start of the global pandemic in 2020. The diverse submissions came from residents of St. Patricks Mercy Home, poet Sharon King-Campbell, International students at Memorial University’s School of Music, Shallaway Youth Choir members and a publication by Choices for Youth. The second premiere is Hannah Drover’s Sea Change, which explores the effects of challenging times in our lives, and how these experiences can inspire introspection and ultimately lead to self-discovery.

Also on the programme is Martin’s Accompanied Cello Suites, with four cellists playing for the St. John’s show. Rounding out the show are two classical ballet repertoire selections: a pas-de-deux from Flames of Paris and a solo from Don Quixote – rare and special dance treats for local stages.

Dancers are thrilled to emerge from many weeks of lockdown and return to performing for live audiences, as we open an exciting new season of professional dance.
